Leopard cattura due ladri di MacBook

Due ladri si introducono in un appartamento e rubano prodotti di elettronica e un MacBook. La proprietaria usando Back to My Mac fotografa remotamente uno malviventi, consegna l'immagine alla polizia e li fa arrestare. Mai sottovalutare il potere di Leopard.

Mai sottovalutare il potere di Mac Os. Questo ammonimento se lo porteranno stampato in testa due ladri, Edmon Shahikian e Ian Frias pizzicati dalla polizia dopo un furto in un appartamento dal quale avevano avuto la sfortuna di sottrarre anche un Mac di qualcuno che sapeva molto bene come utilizzare alcune delle sue funzioni per risalire ai due ladri.

La vicenda è iniziata il 27 aprile quando tre compagne di stanza che risiedono in un appartamento a White Plans, nella parte nord dello stato di New York, aprendo la porta si sono trovate di fronte ai chiari segni del passaggio dei ladri. Dai locali erano spariti due computer, due TV a schermo piatto, due iPod, console per video giochi, Dvd e giochi per computer. Uno dei due computer era, appunto, un Mac.

Il giorno successiva Kait Duplaga, la proprietaria, che non era proprio una qualunque in quanto utente Mac ma un delle commesse dell'Apple Store che si trova al centro commerciale The Westchester che si trova proprio a White Plan, riceveva una telefonata da una amica che le faceva sapere che il suo Mac, quello rubato, era on line. Immediatamente la ragazza accedeva ad Internet da un altro Mac e si collegava al suo portatile attraverso la funzione Back To My Mac attivando la telecamera. Di fronte, dopo una breve attesa si trovava il Frias cui scattava una foto che recuperava e inviava alla polizia. Un'amica della vittima riconosceva il ladro come uno dei partecipanti ad una festa che si era tenuta qualche giorno prima nello stesso appartamento dove era avvenuto il furto. La loro individuazione diventava a quel punto molto facile per le forze dell'ordine che facevano irruzione nell'appartamento, arrestavano i ladri e recuperavano merce frutto della loro attività criminosa per un totale di 5000$; tra di essa, ovviamente, anche il Mac protagonista della vicenda che dovrebbe ricevere un riconoscimento per l'attività civica prestata.
